What are the EYMF Musical SwapShops and why should you come along?

A key aim of the Edinburgh Youth Music Forum is to support the development of best practice in participatory settings. From practical to logistical, questions to solutions, ideas to net-working the SwapShops are a place to explore it all. People are invited to present short workshops or presentations on projects, slots will be made available to try out new ideas, there is open space and themed evenings. The SwapShops are open to both EYMF members as well as non-members.

You can expect

  • CONTINUED INPUT: on-going support and input as well as one off specialist trainings to continue to train, net-work and share together.
  • PEER to PEER LEARNING: valuing those among us who, through years of experience, have developed their skills to the highest standard. The EYMF will offer settings to share practice and build capacity, as well as potential, within  the participatory arts sector.
  • BESPOKE TRAINING: trainings designed specifically to suit the Music Practitioners taking part. In depth exploration of methodologies and techniques.
  • LEADERS in THE FIELD: The aim of the EYMF is to ensure that the quality of training offered is always of the very highest standard. We will therefore recruit local, nationally and internationally to ensure the best facilitators in each field are part of our programme.
  • SAFE SPACE: Practitioners need an environment where they can reflect upon and discuss their work, try new techniques and trouble-shoot issues they are facing in a supportive and confidential setting.
  • COMMUNITY: many Music Practitioners work as sole traders and often in isolation. SwapShop events offer the possibility of new partnerships and project developments as well as informal skill swapping and friendships too!
